In today’s service, Rachel took as her text the story of Noah and the great flood from Genesis Ch 6. God had watched humanity spiral downwards from the first family until he saw that society as a whole was beyond redemption. Yet he chose not to destroy them completely – he spared one family through the ark that Noah built. Today we see a society that in a similar way to that of Genesis 6 is permeated by evil at all levels – but again, God has provided an ark – an escape from the judgement that such evil must surely face. This  time, however, there is room for more than one family, but the cost was far greater – God had to watch his own Son die to open the way.
